Luzech

Castel Rouge is situated in the Lot valley amidst the vineyards of Cahors, in the south west of France in the Occitanie. It is a short stroll to the village of Luzech.

Each of the bedrooms and apartments have their own private entrance and terrace.

In Luzech there is a bar, cafe/restaurant, pizzeria, bakery, small supermarket and a weekly Wednesday market selling local produce. There are beaches along the the Lot river where one can swim and enjoy the sun, the nearest is 5 minutes away and has refreshments and boats for hire. Luzech also has a large outdoor swimming pool in the summer.

All the rooms enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and vineyards and the medieval tower of Luzech.

The area is perfect for walking and cycling. There are numerous walks and trails in the surrounding area, ranging from easy to challenging. All are easily accessible from our bed and breakfast. The Camino de Compostelle (GR36) route passes right through our area. (a variant of the St. Jacques de Compostella pilgrim route). There are also cycling routes (vélo route vallé-du-lot) through the surrounding countryside.

The chambres d’hôtes is a convenient base from which to explore the area. Several popular tourist attractions are within an hours drive, including Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and the prehistoric caves of Pech-Merle.

There are numerous Cahors (Malbec) wine estates in the area open for cellar tours and wine tasting.

The medieval city of Cahors is only 25 minutes by car. Twice a week people from all over the region come to Cahors for its market.
